Welcome to grade 4 page. Here you will find information about what we are doing in class.
In grade 4 we will be starting to read and write in French and we will have 4 marks this year instead of just 1 as in primary. We will now have a mark for each of the following strands: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. If you have any questions regarding this change from primary core french, please contact me at the school.
During this time of school closure, please remember that your health and that of your family comes first. These are some suggestions to help you maintain your French confidence!
April: During the start of the school closure, I hope that you are all safe and healthy. First off, please take care of yourselves! I look forward to seeing everyone at school again. To help maintain your French vocabulary and confidence, I would recommend reviewing some of the songs that we have done in past years, as well as practicing our "super prof" questions, or daily writing sentence starters. .
Please also check your class Google Classroom on Mondays. Under classwork there is a French topic as well. This is where I will post some reference material to help at home, as well as some assignments for you to complete. I will post the weekly activities Monday mornings.
April 6: I have posted a small reading activity for you on your classroom to practice using our reading strategies!
March: We will be starting our culture unit that will be focused on French Ontario celebrations and comparing them to our favorite celebrations that we celebrate. We will learn about different foods we might eat, things we can do, and how to plan a party.
January: We have finished our presentations for our robots and are moving into more detailed work with some animals. We will be talking about an animal to try to buy and animal from a pet store, filling out a form to adopt a pet, and reading some information about different pets and answering questions about them.
November: Robots need to be at school between Nov 25 - 29 . We will be starting to describe our robots in preparation for our final projects so the robots MUST be at school. If you have any questions please email me and I would be happy to help. October: We have started our first big unit learning about good manner, colours, body parts, and adjectives to describe ourselves. Robot project letters have gone home to outline the final project. Please have robots built out of recycled materials and craft supplies before the end of November so that they are ready to come to school when we are ready to start our writing. ALL WRITING MUST BE DONE AT SCHOOL! If you have any questions, please contact me at the school or through email. September: Welcome to a new year of French! I have enjoyed seeing many familiar faces again and meeting some new faces this past week. We have started the year learning how to write some words that describe us and what we like. We will be starting our first unit "Mon Robot Respectueux" very soon. We will be learning some more simple phrases and vocabulary to continue to develop our spoken French and oral communication while learning more vocabulary to describe physical and personality traits of people. In this unit each student will be creating their own robots out of recycled materials at home. More information will come as we get further into the unit.
